Even though having the convenience of finding online recipe ideas in a flash is amazing, I still love my food and garden magazines! Since I am originally from the south, Southern Living is my go to. However, I stumbled across this idea for a Caprese burger in a copy of Allrecipes.
Since my summer garden is ripe with tomatoes and overflowing with basil, I was excited to try this fresh spin on a burger. The only change I made to the recipe was to add BACON! Because lets be real... if you like bacon, everything is better with it! On the flip side, my first thoughts on a vegetarian option would be to skip the bacon and replace the burger patty with grilled portobello mushroom or eggplant.
This was definitely my favorite burger of the summer! Ciabatta bread really fit the Italian fusion theme and stood up against everything going on in between.
